Our patients are first evaluated by one of our physicians to determine whether or not they are a candidate for either of our MedX rehab programs; and if so, to recommend a modified protocol for the more complex medical cases as appropriate. MedX Program
Our standard MedX rehabilitation program
typically consists of 2, 1-hour sessions per week for 8-12 weeks in length. Duration of therapy is reevaluated every 4 weeks by our physicians to assess a patient’s response to treatment, and to modify their treatment plan as appropriate. If and when the physician determines that a MedX rehab program is indicated, our patients are then evaluated by a physical and occupational therapist, who collaborate to formulate an individualized treatment program specific to the patient and their condition. This program may include MedX rehabilitation; as well as education, hands-on instruction and retraining in the following:
Return to Work
Our Return to Work program offers a more intensive, 3-day per week program for the injured worker, with the goal being to expedite their safe and successful return to full duty work. This program includes all activities in our standard MedX program, with the following differences:
- Shorter duration: 8-10 weeks in length
- PDR physician follow-ups every 2-3 weeks (vs. 4 weeks) to reassess work restrictions and capabilities.
- Work conditioning program implemented during 2 nd or 3 rd week of therapy (vs. week 6 or 7)
- Cardiovascular activity is closely monitored, with a minimum of 20 minutes, 3x/week being performed in clinic.
- Patient attendance is closely monitored, documented and communicated to adjusters/case managers on a weekly basis, with missed appointments being reported right away.
Pregnancy Backache Program
Our exclusive Pregnancy Backache Program is aimed at safely and effectively treating pre-, peri-, and post-partum back pain. Our physicians and advanced practice therapists have developed pregnancy, post-partum and post C-section protocols which ensure optimal safety, utilize MedX rehabilitation equipment for low back strengthening, and include all components of our standard program. In addition, we provide specific training in proper body mechanics and lifting techniques related to crib, car seat and bathtub transfers, as well as infant lifting techniques.
