Rehab Services
Our #1 goal is to improve our patients’ quality of life, not just provide a medical service.
MedX Rehab Program
Pain alters normal muscle activity, which leads to weakness and loss of range of motion. MedX isolates the spine during exercise, allowing you to improve the motion and strength of your spine. Combined with a home exercise program, rehabilitation will improve your function by remodeling scar tissue and strengthening muscles. Depending on attendance and progress, the duration of this program is typically 8-12 weeks in length attending 2 times a week for 1 hour sessions.
Our program typically provides the following:
Initial evaluation by a PDR physician, with follow-ups after 4 weeks of therapy to monitor and assess progress-average of 3 to 4 doctor visits throughout programs
MedX testing and/or rehab performed every visit to effectively increase strength and mobility of the neck and low back, as well as overall function
Instruction in home exercise programs, including:
- Stretching
- Swiss Ball lumbar stabilization exercises
- Abdominal stabilization exercises
- Cervical isometrics
- PDR Swiss Ball Circuit Training Program
Cardiovascular activity
Extensive education in the areas of proper body mechanics/lifting techniques, postural reeducation, and ergonomics training as applicable
Work conditioning program, usually initiated after first half of rehab program
Modified protocols developed for special conditions, such as post-surgical and sub-acute injuries
MedX maintenance program (2 machines), 1x every 3-4 weeks for 6 months upon completion of rehab program (requires additional prior authorization)
In both programs, we maintain close contact with referral sources, work comp adjustors and QRC's to keep them abreast of patient's progress at all times throughout the program.
