Diagnostic Testing utilizing medx technologies

If during the initial medical evaluation our doctor finds the patient to be a good candidate for our Medx rehabilitation program, diagnostic MedX testing of the neck and/or low back may be ordered. This testing allows us to compare a patient's strength and mobility with a healthy individual of the same age, weight and gender; which is then analyzed and used during the treatment planning process.

Together, the therapist and patient determine the appropriate amount of resistance to use for MedX exercise throughout the rehab program. This resistance is gradually increased each session as tolerated, with maximal muscle fatigue being the goal. Exercise is never performed with any increasing pain.

Patients are then re-tested in the MedX equipment at 4, 8 and 12-week intervals. These results are compared to the baseline data found during initial testing to assess progress, as well as to the normative data to determine need for further therapy. Based on these test results, we are able to determine if a patient is responding to care, and if necessary, modify their program to ensure maximum results.

Our state-of-the-art MedX equipment allows our therapists to safely and effectively isolate the muscles of the neck and back, while allowing our patients to work at a significantly greater intensity level without compromise to the disc or vertebra. Working at a higher intensity level causes the remodeling of the muscles, therefore offering long term benefits. This results in an increase in strength, mobility, and ultimately, function. In a clinical study, on average, our patients have experienced a 108% to 295% improvement in spinal strength and mobility upon completion of the program. In addition, many patients are able to avoid spinal surgery after completing a MedX program, which is well documented and supported by various research studies.
